Measurement SIG: September 13, 2016

TOPIC: Scores, tests and interpretations. All about the conclusions we derive from test and assessment scores.

Measurement is an important concept that is often overlooked. As Occupational Therapists we use important and valuable tools, to help guide future treatments and determine current functioning. It is important we continue to build on our assessment knowledge to recognize the manner we use instruments and what strengths and weaknesses exist.

The purpose of this SIG is for education and discussions on the topic of measurement for Occupational Therapists. This SIG will provide you with stronger skills to better evaluate assessments and tests. By regularly attending this SIG, you will learn about important elements of appraisal and start to critically appraise tools. This SIG will not tell you what assessment or tool is best for a given population or client, BUT it will give you additional skills to become stronger at appraising tools, networking and finding resources. Join us to dialogue about this important and difficult topic, hear from other OTs, and continue to make our profession stronger.
